Jan Johnston began her career in the early 1990s with the pop duo JJ. Signed to Columbia Records they had some recognition while touring and some minor hits. Jan continued as a solo artist before meeting with trance producer BT. They collaborated the tracks ‘Calling Your Name’ and ‘Remember’. This set Jan off on the path of collaborating some of the world's top trance music DJs and producers and becoming what some term 'The First Lady of Trance'.
Jan went on to put vocal life to dance classics such as Freefall project. Upon being given the instrumental, Jan came up with the lyrics resulting in "Skydive (I Feel Wonderful)" which became a club anthem
Paul Oakenfold signed her to his Perfecto Records where her first release was ‘Flesh’ other singles followed but the ‘Emerging’ album recorded at the time (1999) was never released.
Jan has also collaborated with many other trance and progressive artists such as Paul Van Dyk, Leama and Moor, Serge Devant, Tomski and Cosmic Gate.
In 2019 her first unreleased album (and probably her best work) ' Emerging' was released after nearly 20 years in the vault.
